Bolster plate mounting the die cushion is the most cost effective way to
mount it. Sometimes it is the only available mounting method when press
bed does not have any ledges and bosses. Die cushion is basically hanging
from the bottom of the bolster plate and is mounted with four bolster mounting
rods per each die cushion. It requires four holes to be drilled and tapped
in the bottom of the bolster plate.
Die Cushions are designed so that mounting rods and mounting holes do not
to interfere with standard J.I.C. pin pattern (learn
more about J.I.C. pattern). Sometimes, when non-J.I.C. pattern is used,
there could be interference between pin holes and mounting holes. In this
case mounting holes location has to be changed. Usually these holes are
moved outside the pin pattern and an additional intermediate plate is used
that extends to new mounting holes locations. This type of mounting is called
Press Bed Mounted to the Bolster. |
